A 57-year-old man, identified as Agya Badu and popularly known as Express, has allegedly committed suicide at Oheamadwen in the Shama District of the Western Region after attacking his wife with a machete over her decision to end their marriage.
According to a 3News.com report on October 17, 2025, the deceased and his wife had been experiencing marital problems for some time. Matters escalated after the woman reportedly informed him of her intention to file for divorce.
The deceased allegedly attempted to attack his wife earlier in the week on Monday, prompting her to report the incident to the police.

She also summoned him before the chiefs and elders of the community for mediation.
The Assembly Member for the area, Owu Ewie, said the man had been avoiding home after the initial assault for fear of arrest.
“He had issues with his wife on Monday and is said to have initially attacked her. The wife, who feared for her life, reported the case to the police and later brought the matter before the chiefs and elders,” Ewie stated.
He added that the deceased, who worked as a security guard, returned home on Thursday evening after closing from work and launched another attack on his wife with a machete.
“He came home yesterday evening and attacked his wife again with the intention of ending her life. She sustained severe injuries and has since been admitted to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital for treatment. He then left home and committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in the community,” he explained.

The couple reportedly has a three-year-old child.
Police have since commenced investigations into the incident, while the wife remains in critical condition at the hospital.
