MANET Could Face Court Action

MANET Estate Could Face Court action for illegally connecting electricity. About 100 tenants of (Palms) Manet Estate at Ogbojo in East Legon have been illegally connected to electricity and have not paid light bills for the past one and half years.

This came to light when the Accra East Region of Electricity Company of Ghana began a disconnection exercise today. A resident (Dzifa) who spoke on PeaceNews said each resident had paid $500 US dollars through Manet for the supply of ECG meters to enable them pay their bills promptly, and for two years this has not happened.

The coordinator of the ECG exercise Dotse Mawudesia Hlorlewu who agreed to speak to PeaceNews suddenly could not be contacted as his phones were switched off .

Surprisingly Manet officials were not available to comment on the issue as the news of the massive disconnection was carried on air and on our 6pm news. They failed to pick all our phone calls as we tried to reach them for their comments on the embarrassing situation at Palms Manet Estates at Ogbojo in East Legon.
