Legon records 129 criminal cases

The Legon Campus of the University of Ghana Legon recorded 129 criminal cases last year, as compared to 72, in 2013.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Senior Security Officer In-Charge of Crime, Mr. Paul Adanusa, said the cases were usually handed over to the Legon Police Command for investigations and prosecution.

Mr. Adanusa gave the break-down as follows: Theft at the Halls/Hostels cases - 26; Car break-ins – 24; Theft at Offices and Departments – 20; Armed Robbery – 19; Theft in Residential areas – 8; Theft by Fraud – 5; Attempted Theft at Residential areas and Damage to property (Poles and gates) – 4.

The rest are: Assault on Campus – 4; Narcotic cases – 3; Theft at Departments – 2; Rape Cases – 2; Bag Snatching Cases – 2; Theft on Campus – 2; Unlawful Entry cases – 2; and Cases of Unlocked doors – 1.

He advised the students and residents on Campus to utilize the security tips they receive in the media to protect themselves.
