The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect in connection with a series of taxi driver robberies and murders in the Greater Accra Region.
This update was shared in a statement released by the Service on Friday, October 17, 2025.
“The Anti-Armed Robbery Unit (AARU) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested suspect Peter Akakpo, alias Dompe, in connection with ongoing investigations into a series of robberies and murders involving taxi drivers within the Greater Accra Region, particularly in the Odorkor enclave,” the statement said.

The CID’s Anti-Armed Robbery Unit confirmed that Peter Akakpo was taken into custody following a detailed investigation into the attacks, particularly around the Odorkor area.
“The Anti-Armed Robbery Unit has been conducting thorough investigations into these tragic incidents, and we have successfully apprehended one of the suspects,” the statement noted.
The police said the investigations began after the deaths of two taxi drivers at Sakaman Blue Lagoon on May 9 and June 15, 2025.

Intelligence-led operations had earlier led to the arrest of Vincent Gbetorglo on June 30, 2025. Subsequent inquiries revealed that Gbetorglo had been in communication with Peter Akakpo, whose contact number was linked to both victims.
“After weeks of sustained intelligence and surveillance, suspect Peter Akakpo, alias Dompe, an ex-convict, was arrested on October 13, 2025, at Kasoa-Domeabra, from a room rented by his accomplice, Vincent Gbetorglo,” the statement added.
