Justice for victim of Armed Robbery alas

Aflao, May 21, GNA - Five armed robbers, who five years ago, broke i= nto a hardware store at Dzodze, in the Ketu-North District, and stole over GHC700 worth of goods have been jailed 10 years each in hard labour. They are Kwame Ahedor, Sakpa Xorlali Ahiadzese, aged 41 and unemploy= ed, Kodzo Fevlo, alias 'The Boy', 38, Etse Duvor 25, both farmers and Donne Boame, 44, a truck pusher.

They pleaded not guilty to conspiracy, unlawful entry and armed robbe= ry. A sixth member of the group, whose name was not given, was said to h= ave fled to Lome, Togo, but was involved in another stealing case and current= ly in jail in that country.

Mama Akuamoah, a Police Inspector of Denu, told the Aflao Circuit Court, presided by Mr Francis Obiri, that the convicts were resident at Dzodze i= n the Ketu-North District where the 70 year old complainant, Mr Yewenyo Dan= yo, operated the shop. She said about at about 0200 hours on September 4, 2005, the group, taking advantage of a power outage, scaled the wall into the complainant'= s house with locally made short guns and other dangerous weapons. Mama Akuamoah said amidst firing of guns, they broke into the complainant's shop, which was adjacent to his house and stole roofing sheets, bags of cement and gallons of paint worth about GHC 726.60. She said Ahedor and Buame were arrested while trying to sell some of the items to a hardware dealer in town about a week later, leading to the arr= est of the others.
