Juaso police appeal for assistance

Juaso (Ash), Nov. 23, GNA 96 The Juaso District Police Command in Ashanti has launched an appeal for funds in an effort to raise 66 million cedis to repair its broken down vehicle to facilitate efficient policing.

The vehicle, which had not been roadworthy for the past two years, is hampering the smooth operations of the police in an environment where criminal activities are on the ascendancy.

An estimated amount of 66 million cedis is required to finance its repairs after it was examined by mechanic to determine the extent of damage.

Letters have been sent to corporate bodies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) as well as philanthropists in the District to assist in raising funds to repair the vehicle.

The move, which was initiated by Superintendent Francis Agrippa Opong, barely one month after assuming office as the new District Police Commander has not received the needed response as less than two million cedis has so far been realised.

Superintendent Opong told the Ghana News Agency that, the situation had rendered his outfit handicapped in responding to emergencies. He urged the public to contribute to enable the police to swiftly respond to distress calls and also to provide all round security for the people.
