Human Rights Advocacy Centre wades into appeal by Jesus One Touch

Human Rights Advocacy Centre has filed processes at an Accra High Court praying to be allowed to join the appeal filed by Prophet Nana Kofi Yirenkyi aka Jesus One Touch, Founder and General Overseer of Jesus Blood Prophetic Ministry.

When the case was called on Friday, Mr Justice E.F.Dzakpasu, the trial judge indicated that the judgment was ready but Human Rights Advocacy Centre had filed some undisclosed processes which he would first like to see.

Mr K.N. Adomako Acheampong, Counsel for One Touch who was not happy with the developments, challenged the locus standi of the group in the matter but the court adjourned the matter to March 30 to deliver its judgment.

Jesus One Touch was some months ago slapped with a 10-year jail term with hard labour by an Accra Circuit Court for defilement and incest.

He bounced back after serving five months of his jail term and filed an appeal challenging the verdict by the Circuit Court, on the grounds that the judge erred in delivering judgment when the defence had created sufficient doubts in the case of the prosecution.

Jesus One Touch, in his appeal, is praying the High Court to quash the decision of the lower court citing it as an erroneous decision.**
