The Ghana Police Service has given details of its investigation into the gruesome murder of a 39-year-old woman, identified as Alberta Hagan, and two of her children, on May 19, 2024, at Tuba Netlink Estates, a suburb of Kasoa in the Central Region.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Saturday, September 19, 2025, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, gave details of the murder, which has now been resolved after more than a year.
She began by narrating the scene of the incident on the very day it happened, when police officers were greeted with the lifeless bodies of the victims in a pool of blood.

The CID boss indicated that the 39-year-old woman and one of her children had already died from deep cuts when the police got to the scene.
"On May 19, 2024, the police received information about a violent incident at a residence. Officers proceeded to the scene and found a 39-year-old female, identified as Alberta Hagan, together with her three children, all lying in a pool of blood in their room.
"Police inspected the bodies and detected that one of the children was alive, but with multiple deep cuts on his head and blood oozing from his ear. Also, a five-month-old baby was found alive on a sofa in the hall. The injured child was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased persons were taken to the Police Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy," she said.
She added, "A post-mortem examination confirmed that the victims died from severe head injuries caused by assault."
Commissioner of Police (COP) Lydia Yaako Donkor stated that the investigation pointed to a lover of Alberta Hagan who attacked her and her children over a dispute about money.
The said lover, Samuel Amoah, according to the CID Director-General, confessed to the crime after he was arrested.

"Investigations established that the suspect, Samuel Amoah, also known as Biggie, had been living with the victims and was in a relationship with Alberta Hagan, and their relationship had recently deteriorated due to a dispute over financial matters.
"In a fit of rage, the suspect attacked Alberta and the two children who witnessed the incident. The suspect fled the scene and went into hiding, but after months of sustained intelligence operations, he was arrested on September 17, 2025, at Suhum in the Eastern Region. During interrogation, he admitted to committing the crime and expressed regret over his actions," she said.
"The suspect remains in police custody, assisting with further investigations. He will be arraigned before the courts to face charges relating to the murders," she added.
