Gunmen kill recharge card vendor in Bawku

Unidentified gunmen have opened fire on a telephone recharge cards vendor at Bawku, killing him instantly and bolted with his bag containing unspecified amount of money and some recharge cards.

The victim, according to Starr News’ Edward Adeti, has been identified as Seidu Abane.

The incident happened at Pwalugu near the Bawku Secondary School around 9:30 pm Tuesday, barely six hours after the Mamprusis had returned to the peace negotiation table.

The Bawku Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Kaletsi Tefutor, told Starr News from the crime scene that the police suspect “pure robbery.”

“It is too early to tell you exactly what it is,” Tefutor said. “The gentleman was ambushed and shot on his way home. We are suspecting pure robbery and no ethnic violence.”

The employer of the deceased Barnabas Abariga told Starr News Abane had come under a similar gun attack about a month ago but was lucky to have escaped.

The remains have been deposited at the morgue.
