A technician at the Local Government Service, Ibrahim Kofi Sessah, has been granted bail of GH¢6.5 million after pleading not guilty to charges related to the unlawful sale of employment positions within the Ghana Education Service (GES).

According to court documents presented by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and sighted by GhanaWeb on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, Sessah has been charged with financial misconduct, including using his public office for personal gain and bribing a public officer.

The case, as presented by the OSP, details how Sessah allegedly collaborated with Anthony Gyasi, an IT Officer at the GES Head Office, to exploit Gyasi's position for financial benefit.

Between January 2022 and December 2023, Sessah’s Zenith Bank account reportedly received over GH¢6 million from the unlawful sale of GES appointment letters to teacher applicants.

Additionally, Sessah is accused of personally accepting GH¢580,000 from approximately 100 applicants, promising to secure their appointments within the GES.

The Financial and Economic Division of the Accra High Court has set bail at GH¢6.5 million, with stringent conditions requiring two sureties who must justify the amount with landed property located within the Greater Accra Region.

The court has also ordered the prosecution to disclose all necessary materials within 21 days. The case is scheduled for mention on June 3, 2025.
