Four arrested over disappearance of twin brothers, nine

Ho, Jan. 10, GNA - The Police have arrested four suspects in connection with the alleged disappearance of a set of twin brothers at Tsito, near Ho in the Volta Region.

Nine year old Joseph and Benjamin Bani, the twins, were said to have been lured into the house of a "prime suspect" (name withheld), who took them away to an unknown destination.

Police Inspector Joy Afagbedzi of the Police Public Affairs Department, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Wednesday that the "prime suspect" on January 2, this year sent John Annang Adeku to invite the twins to his (prime suspect's) house.

He said Adeku, who was helping the police in their investigations, located the boys around the Roman Catholic School Park. Mr Afagbedzi said the twins, who were familiar with Adeku because they lived in the same area, followed him to the "prime suspect's" house. He said on January 4, this year, the "prime suspect", now on the run, visited Adeku in his house and the two held a meeting around midnight. Mr Afagbedzi said in their conversation, the "prime suspect" was said to have warned Adeku to keep whatever was going on secret or he (prime suspect) would eliminate him.

He said in the morning of January 5, the "prime suspect" despatched Adeku from Tsito with GH=A215 to Leklebi-Duga, also in the Volta Region, to bring his wife to Aflao.

Mr Afagbedzi said while they were waiting for a vehicle by the roadside at Tsito, the two heard a gong-gong beater announcing the disappearance of the twins, but when Adeku enquired about their whereabouts, the "prime suspect" allegedly told him he had taken them "somewhere" and warned him (Adeku) never to mention that issue again. He said when Adeku and the "prime suspect's" wife arrived at Aflao at about 2000 hours the "prime suspect" came with two motorbikes and took them to a town called Yorke in Togo.

Mr Afagbedzi said the "prime suspect", his wife and Adeku were hosted by a fetish priest for the night at Yorke and Adeku returned to Tsito the following day only to be arrested about an hour after his return.
