Fisherman wanted for polluting river

Ho, April 10, GNA - A Ho Circuit Court on Wednesday issued a bench warrant for the arrest of one Moses Atsu, a fisherman at Adaklu-Tordzi for allegedly polluting the Tordzi River with chemicals. Moses Atsu had refused to report at court for trial, after he was arrested and handed over to the police on March 27, this year, while he was collecting dead fishes from a net. Police Chief Inspector Emmanuel Okudzeto told the Court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Siammeh that opinion leaders and youths in the town had information that Atsu had been using various types of chemicals to catch fish thereby polluting the river. He said on March 27, the youth of the town organised and went to the river at about 2240 hours and found Atsu collecting basketfuls of dead fishes. Inspector Okudzeto said they arrested Atsu and handed him over to the Police.
