Elmina, (C/R), July 21, GNA - A 20-year-old fisherman, was on Tuesday sentenced to two years imprisonment by the Elmina Magistrate Court, for stealing a pig.

Egya Kow from Denstsedo, a suburb of Elmina, was convicted on his own plea.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Keyward Adjei told the Court presided over by Mr Kwame Ohene-Essel, that the complainant was a pig farmer and lives in the same vicinity with the accused.

He said the complainant detected constant theft of his animals and therefore kept surveillance to arrest the culprit.

Chief Inspector Adjei said at about 0200 hours on July 17, this year, the complainant saw the accused emerging from a nearby bush with bloodstains on his clothes.

When Egya was challenged and escorted to the bush, a slaughtered pig was seen lying there.
