Fisherman jailed for defiling pupil

The Agona Swedru Circuit Court has sentenced a 19-year-old Fisherman seven years in hard labour for defiling a seven-year-old pupil.

Joseph Akapor who resides at Winneba pleaded guilty to the charge and the court accordingly jailed him.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Oporku Mensah told the court presided over by Justice Abigail Enimel Asare that the victim is a pupil at Winneba and lives with her parents at Anyan-Ye-Aboah, a community near the Police Command and Staff College at Winneba whilst the convict also lives in the vicinity.

Chief Inspector Mensah said on May 25, at about 1000 hours the victim was sent by the mother and the convict lured her and had sex with her.

The victim informed the mother of her ordeal, who reported the matter to the Winneba branch of Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service and Akapor was arrested.
