Farmers attempt to sell farm labourer

Tarkwa (W/R), Nov. 29, GNA - A Tarkwa Circuit court has remanded four farmers into prison custody for allegedly attempting to sell Kwesi Annan a farm labourer at Huni-Valley in the Wassa West District. They are Kwabena Tweneboah a farmer at Huni-Valley; Nana Asumah, Salam Asibi and Kweku Agyapong all farmers at Akotom.

Their pleas were not taken and would re-appear on December 18. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court presided over by Mr John Ajet-Nasam that the victim Annan was a farm labourer to Asibi.
He said on Tuesday, October 17, this year, Asibi and Agyapong together with the victim left Akotom to Huni Valley on foot through a bush path to Tweneboah with whom they had arranged for someone to buy the victim for ritual purposes.
Police Inspector Amponsah said on reaching Huni Valley, Nana Asumah joined and accompanied them half way to the cottage of Tweneboah and returned to Huni Valley.
He said at the cottage Asibi and Agyapong bargained with Tweneboah to buy the victim, but Tweneboah said he had no money. Later Tweneboah, Asibi and Agyapong agreed that, the victim should stay with Tweneboah at Tintin cottage near Huni-Valley while Asibi and Agyapong travelled to Sefwi to search for someone to buy the victim and would return within 10 days.
The prosecution said on Sunday, October 22, a witness in the case hinted the complainant that, the victim Annan had been kept in Tweneboah's cottage at Tintina village near Huni Valley to be sold and killed for ritual purposes.
He said the complainant reported the matter to Huni Valley police who arrested the accused persons and after investigations charged them with the offence.
