Farmer defiles three-year-old girl

A circuit court in Koforidua, on Thursday sentenced Solomon Agbenyor, a 32- year-old farmer, to 23 years imprisonment in hard labor for defiling a three- year-old girl.

Agbenyor pleaded guilty.

Police Chief Inspector Patrick Adzadza, told the court presided over by Ms. Wilhelmina Hammond that the complainant, mother of the victim, and Agbenyor resides at New Jerusalem, near Begoro.

The prosecution said on June 14, this year, the complainant went to farm leaving the victim and her other siblings behind. Chief Insp. Adzadza said Agbenyor lured the girl, who was playing behind their house to a nearby church building and had sexual intercourse with her.

The prosecution said when the victim went home the mother realised that the girl was defiled.

Chief Insp. Adzadza said Agbenyor admitted defiling the victim in his caution statement to the police.
