Nsawam, Aug 10, GNA- The Nsawam District Circuit Court on Thursday sentenced a 45-year-old farmer, Kwesi Agyeman to 20 years imprisonment for defiling a 12-year-old girl.

Kwesi Agyeman pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement. Inspector Alex Cosmos told the court presided over by Mrs Elizabeth Ankomah that, the victim was a class two pupil whilst the accused was a farmer, and both reside in the same area. On September 2, last year, the victim went to sell plantain but returned home very late.

When the mother questioned her she said the accused bought some of the plantain and asked her to send it to his room. She said when she entered the room the accused pounced on her and forcibly had sex with her.

He later warned her not to disclose the act to anybody or else he would kill her.

Since then he has been having sex with her until the day she came home very late. A complaint was made to the police and a medical form was issued to the victim to attend hospital. The medical report indicated that the girl had been defiled. The accused was then arrested and after investigation, charged with the offence.
