Farmer, 38, jailed 10 years for defiling stepdaughter

Goaso (B/A), June 28, GNA - A Circuit Court at Goaso has sentenced a 38-year-old farmer, Kwadwo Nimo, to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling his 14-year-old stepdaughter at Yabikrom, near Sankore in the Asunafo South District of Brong Ahafo. Prosecuting, Police Inspector John Amponsah told the court presided over by Mr Charles Quampah that, the victim was a primary four pupil of Ntonsu Local Authority Primary School and stayed with her female teacher at Yabikrom. He said Nimo also lived in the same village with the mother of the victim but had been paying visits to the victim, who had a room to herself.

Inspector Amponsah said in March this year, while the victim was asleep and did not close the door, the accused took advantage and entered the room and had sexual intercourse with her. After the act, Nimo warned the victim not to disclose the ordeal to any one or else she would die. Inspector Amponsah said an uncle of the victim, Mr Moses Tetteh, visited her and realised that she was not well so took her to a health centre at Sankore, where it was detected that she was four months pregnant.

Upon the interrogation by her mother she mentioned Nimo as the one responsible for her pregnancy 28 June 06
