Electrician in court for allegedly defiling 8-year old

A 29-year-old electrician, who is accused of allegedly defiling an eight-year-old girl at Amrahia near Adenta in Accra, has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.

Charged with defilement, Daniel Frank Prove has pleaded not guilty. His lawyer, Noah Asamany, pleaded for bail for his client saying that at the right time they would prove their innocence.

Prosecuting Detective Inspector Kofi Atimbire, said the investigator in the matter had informed him that “they were finding it difficult to bring the complainant to court so they leave the matter entirely in the hands of the court.”

The Court presided over by Mrs. Abena Oppong Adjin Doku, admitted prove to bail in the sum of GHc 8,000.00 with two sureties to reappear on March 23.

The prosecution said the complainant was a carpenter residing at Amrahia near Adenta with his wife and the victim, a class four pupil. The victim is the complainant’s daughter.

The accused person also resides at Amrahia with his family. On February 10, 2017 at about 5:00pm, the accused person who was weeding in his garden located behind his house saw the victim passing by the roadside close to his garden.

The prosecution said immediately the victim saw the accused person, she took to her heels, and the accused also run after her and lured her to a nearby bush and had sex with her on the floor.

After the act, the prosecution said the accused warned the victim not to tell anyone of the act, else he would kill that person because he was a wizard.

Inspector Atimbire said the victim who felt abdominal pains after the act reported the matter to complainant, and medical form was issued to the complainant by the police to send the victim to the hospital for examination and treatment.

The Police also nabbed the accused person subsequently.
