ECG prosecutes 425 defaulters

The Eastern Regional Secretariat of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), has taken 425 defaulting customers to court to recover its outstanding electricity bills.

About 100 of the defaulters have been summoned by the Koforidua High Court and circuit and other courts in the region for them to appear to respond to the charges.

The defaulters include industries, educational institutions, state institutions, commercial operators and individuals.

Mr Michael Baah, the Regional General Manager of ECG said, a list of all the 425 defaulters have been given to courts for prosecution.

He indicated that, the region would not relent on its efforts to retrieve the outstanding bills from customers.

He emphasised that, stringent measures would be taken against defaulting customers, to serve as deterrent to other defaulters yet to be dragged to court.

Mr Baah called on all defaulters to pay their debts to enable the company fulfil its mandate to serve its customers diligently.
