Driver’s mate in court for defiling girl

Akim Swedru (E/R), Dec. 14, GNA – A 17-year-old driver’s mate who allegedly defiled a 14-year-old primary four pupil of the Achiase Salvation Army School in the Birim South District, is on GH ¢ 2,000 bail with one surety.

Joseph Nyarko pleaded not guilty to defiling a child under 16 years of age and would reappear on December 19.

Police Inspector Kingsley Antwi told the court presided over by Mr Yaw Attah Sampong, that said the girl and her parents live at Akim Achiase, while Nyarko also lives in the same town.

He said on September 30 the girl was selling plantain chips and the accused purchased 20 pesewas, but directed her to his house and asked her to come for the money later.

Inspector Antwi said in an hour’s time when the girl approached Nyarko for her money, he lured her into a room and forcibly had sex with her and kept her till the following day.

He said the victim’s mother heard that her daughter was in the custody of Nyarko and confronted him, adding that Nyarko explained that there was a heavy downpour and the victim decided to stay over with him and a report was then made to the police.
