Driver held for possessing human skeletons

The Nsawam Magistrate Court presided over by Mrs Alberta Amponsah, has remanded a 24-year-old driver into prison custody for possessing human skeletons.

Isaac Darko who resides in Nsawam Adoagyiri pleaded guilty with explanation when he appeared before the court on Wednesday. He is to reappear on June 7, 2013.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Sampson Dobere, told the court that the complainant and the accused live in the same house at Alafia-Adoagyiri near Nsawam.

He said the complainant had for some time detected that graves in the area had been looted, especially an old Muslim cemetery there.

On May 26, 2013 at about 2130 hours, the prosecutor explained, some human bones were found in a travelling bag in Darko’s house.

When confronted, Darko claimed ownership and a report was then made to the police who arrested him, Chief Inspector Dobere told the court.
