A 50-year-old driver who was allegedly accused of continuously defiling an eleven-year-old girl at Dzorwulu in Accra has been set free by an Accra Circuit Court.

This was after Prosecution led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Agnes Boafo had informed the court that the complainant in the matter had written to the Police indicating that he was no longer interested in the prosecution of Kwame Konadu, the accused person.

The said withdrawal letter was produced in court and after the court had read through, it “struck the out the case as withdrawn.”

The facts as narrated earlier by DSP Boafo before the court presided over by Mrs Rita AbrokwahDuku was that, the complainant in the matter was the father of the victim who together withKonadu reside at Dzorwulu in Accra.

DSP Boafo said on August 27, last year, the victim was passing by when the accused sent her to buy him batteries of which she obliged.

She said when the victim brought the said batteries, Konadu lured her into his room and had sex with her.

The Prosecution said since then Konadu had continuously been having sex with the victim.

She said the complainant had information about the sexual affair between the accused and his daughter and quizzed the victim who narrated what had been transpiring between her and the accused.

The Prosecution said a report was made at the Kotobabi Police Station by the complainant and a Police medical report form was issued to him to seek medical attention for the victim.

She said the matter was later transferred to the Nima Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit.

She said Konadu in his statement to the Police admitted the offence.
