Cape Coast, Jan. 25, GNA - Robert David, a 41-year-old taxi driver from Cape Coast was on Monday arraigned before a circuit court in Cape Coast charged with defilement, abduction and depriving one from lawful possessi= on and care. With him in the dock was Evelyn Obeng, a 31-year-old drinking bar operat= or, who was charged with abetment of crime.

Their pleas were not taken and were remanded to re-appear on February 4,=

2010. Police Inspector Christina Sampong told the court that in October 2009, Evelyn contracted David to convey Indian hemp from Amosima to Cape Coast for a fee of GH¢2,000.

Inspector Sampong alleged that Evelyn failed to pay the amount after Dav= id had conveyed the 36 bags of Indian hemp to her house but rather promised him a girl.

The prosecutor alleged that on January 3, David went to pick the 15-year-old girl from Evelyn's place to his house and had sexual intercou= rse with her twice a day and sent her back on January 7. Inspector Sampong said a report was made to the police and they were arrested.
