The Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Justice Srem Sai, has dismissed claims that the Attorney General’s Office has lost crucial evidence in the ongoing criminal trial of the Republic versus Adu-Boahene and three others.

In a social media post on August 28, 2025, he clarified that all necessary documents to prosecute the case were filed by June 18.

According to him, these documents include contracts of sale, bank wire transfer records, bank account statements, company registration details, property ownership records, purchase receipts, INTERPOL stolen vehicle records, caution and charge statements of the accused persons, records of asset non-declaration and a flow chart tracing money movement through multiple bank accounts.

He explained that the prosecution will also rely on testimonies from three witnesses.

“Further, court certified copies of each of these documents have been duly served on each of the Accused Persons. So, it is not even realistic that the documents could be lost so as to jeopardise the prosecution of the case.

“Before the start of the legal vacation on July 31, the first of our 3 prosecution witnesses had completed testifying and had been cross-examined by the lawyers of 3 of the 4 Accused Persons. The trial will resume in earnest in mid-October when the courts return from the legal vacation," part of the post read.

Justice Srem Sai emphasised that court-certified copies of these documents had already been served on the accused persons, making it “not even realistic” for them to be lost in a way that could jeopardize the prosecution’s case.

He added that before the commencement of the legal vacation on July 31, the first of the three prosecution witnesses had completed testimony and was cross-examined by the lawyers representing three of the four accused persons.

The trial is expected to resume in mid-October when the courts return from the legal break.
