DVLA boss sets the records straight on alleged rape

Lawyers for the Greater Accra Regional Manager of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) have described as “a palpable lie and an injurious falsehood”, claims by an intern that their client attempted raping her.

In a letter written to Radio XYZ from Noah Tetteh Matey’s Lawyers, Urafiki Law Consult, Mr Stephen Ahor, who signed the letter, said the allegation by the intern was “a naked brazen attempt to tarnish his hard won reputation over the years and a calculated attempt to tarnish his reputation among right thinking members of society”.

Mr. Ahor also denied, in the letter, that his client was arrested by the Bureau of National Investigations, as earlier reported.

The Lawyers accused the intern in question of “unlawfully collecting Ghc5.00 from every customer” before serving them at her duty post, where she was tasked to issue Driver Licence forms.

Additionally, Tetteh Matey’s Lawyers accused the lady of being “in the habit of picking quarrels” with national service personnel at the Office, a situation which necessitated a query from management, after which she was asked to go home after “her period of attachment with DVLA expired”.

According to the letter, the alleged victim was prevented by Security officers at the Office, from entering after she allegedly “tried to forcibly enter the DVLA compound”.

“It was after these developments that she started peddling this falsehood”, the letter said.

Already the national head Office of the DVLA has started investigating the allegation, which it described as an alleged “sexual harassment”.
