Court remands murder suspect

Sunyani (B/A) Sept. 6, GNA - A Circuit court at Fiapre, near Sunyani in Brong-Ahafo on Friday remanded Kwaku Annie, alias Kwaku Adjei, a 44-year-old farmer into prison custody for allegedly killing his 34-year-old brother in Sunyani.

His plea was not taken on the charge of murder and will re-appear on September 31, this year.

Prosecuting, Inspector Collins Nana Fosu, told the court, Presided over by Mr. John Owusu Gyamfi that, the complainant in the case, Madam Yaa Ataa, is the mother of the two and lived with Kwadwo Asamoah alias Kwadwo Nsoah, the deceased, in the same house at New Town in Sunyani.

On August 31 this year, when Madam Ataa returned from the farm at about 1400 hours a quarrel ensued between her, her daughter Yaa Abunyaa and the accused over a domestic issue. He said the accused threatened to kill either the mother or the sister so their mother, sensing danger called the deceased who was then washing a vehicle in front of their house to rescue them. Inspector Ofosu said immediately the deceased got to the scene the accused turned his anger on him and butted his forehead twice, resulting in a big gash.

He said the accused pushed his junior brother down and pulled his genital organ till he (deceased) became unconscious and when he was rushed to the Sunyani Government Hospital he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The case was reported to the police who subsequently arrested the accused.
