Court remands mason in prison custody for defilement

Goaso(B/A), Nov. 03, GNA - Mr Albert Zoogah, presiding over a Goaso Magistrate's court has remanded a 35-year-old mason Abuu Mohammed in prison custody for allegedly defiling a-16-year-old girl in the bush. The accused pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on November 15. Police Chief Inspector Ben Brew prosecuting told the court that both the accused and the victim lived at Konkontreso near Acherensua in the Asutifi District of Brong Ahafo Region.

He said in the morning of October 14, this year when the victim was on her way to fetch water in a nearby stream, the accused followed her dragging her into a bush and defiled her.

The prosecution said the accused warned the victim after the act not to inform anyone about it but with the pain and agony informed her parents about the ordeal and a report was made to the police who arrested the accused.

He said a medical report issued to the victim showed that she had been defiled and after investigations the accused was charged with the offence.
