Akim Swedru (E/R), June 1, GNA- The Akim Swedru Circuit Court, in the Birim South District, has remanded Mohammed Ahmzah, a driver's mate for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old basic school pupil. Ahmzah, 19, pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on June 25. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Adelaide Appia Korang told the court presided over by Mr Kofi Akrowiah, that on May 16, the victim was on her way to fetch water from the "Nsu Fitaa" river at Akim Achiase, where Ahmzah had laid ambush.

He said Ahmzah, held the girl from behind, pinned her to the ground and forcibly had sex with her.

Chief Inspector Korang said while the accused was enjoying the act, a witness in the case spotted him and when she drew nearer, Ahmzah took to his heels living his shorts behind.

The witness took the girl to the house and reported the matter to her sister who in turn made a report to the police. Chief Inspector Appia Korang said a medical form issued to the victim established that she had been sexually assaulted. The police later arrested Ahmzah and arraigned him.
