Court grants bail to an alleged X-ray machine thief

Sunyani Dec. 04, GNA - A Goaso Magistrate's Court has granted Solomon Essuma, a casual worker of the X-ray Department of Goaso District Hospital, 300 million cedis bail for allegedly stealing a 350 million cedis X-ray machine belonging to the department.

Essuma pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on January 10. Police Chief Inspector Douglas Asaana, prosecuting told the court presided over by Mr Albert Zoogah that complainant is the Asunafo South District Director of Health Services while the accused is a casual worker of the department.

He said on Monday November 13, this year, authorities at the department realized that the machine was missing and confronted the accused who was on suspension for misconduct but denied any knowledge of it.

The prosecution said in the morning of November 17, the accused informed the complainant on telephone that the machine was in his possession and would bring it to the department.

He said the complainant alerted the police and accused was arrested with the machine that was in a very bad state and after investigations charged with the offence.
