Court grants C40mn cedis bail to fraudsters

Tema, Dec. 17, GNA - Two persons who allegedly defrauded a complainant of 7.5 million cedis, under the pretext of sending her son to Denmark to play football, have been granted 20 million cedis bail, by the Tema Circuit Court 'A'.

Daniel Badu, a Freight Forwarder and Kwadwo Boakye, Carpenter, pleaded not guilty and would to reappear on January 11, 2005.

They are to provide one surety each before they would be granted the bail.

Police Chief Inspector Sarah Aggrey Acquah told the Court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that the accused persons collected the amount two years ago and have not been able to send the son of the complainant abroad.

He said when they were arrested they were able to refund two million cedis.
