Court fines unemployed GH¢500 for stealing electronic items

Akim Oda (E/R), Aug 26, GNA - Felix Frimpong, unemployed, who was found guilty of stealing by an Akim Oda circuit court in the Birim Central Municipality, has been fined GH¢500.00.

Frimpong, 24, who pleaded not guilty to unlawful entry and stealing electronic gadgets valued at GH¢200.00, was found guilty after the trial, and would go to jail for 18 months if he failed to pay the fine.

Police Inspector Kwaku Appiah told the court presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor that Mr Kwesi Egyire, a driver, who is also the complainant, live at Akim Oda where Frimpong alson resided.

He said on July 28, this year at about 0630 hours, Frimpong went to Mr Egyire's room at Jamaica, a suburb of Akim Oda, and stole a Motorola phone valued at GH¢100.00 and VCD player also valued at GH¢100.00.

Inspector Appiah said Mr Egyire's wife spotted Frimpong who took to his heels with the stolen items, but left his slippers in the room.

He said a few days later, Frimpong went into another room at Jamaica to steal and he was arrested and handed over to the police.
