Court fines food vendors

Twifo Praso, (C/R) April 21, GNA - A Twifo Praso District magistrate has advised food vendors to keep their wares under hygienic condition during sales.

The magistrate, Mr Joseph Blay, gave the warning when he sentenced two food vendors to a fine of 300,000 cedis when they pleaded guilty to exposing fried fish for sale to the public. He said in future food vendors brought before him on similar charge will be dealt with severely.

The accused persons, Ms Sarah Appiah from Mampoma and Ekua Mansa from Twifo Agona will pay 150,000 cedis or in default one month imprisonment.

Prosecuting, Mr Edward Addai, District health environmental officer, told the court that on April 6, the two accused persons were arrested for exposing fried fish. They were selling to the public during an inspection.
