Court fines Manager GH¢120.00 for reckless driving

The Nkawie District Manager of the Cocoa Swollen Shoot Virus Control Unit (CSSVCU) of the COCOBOD, Kingsley Owusu-Appiah has been sentenced to a fine of GH¢120.00 by the Nyinahin Magistrate Court for reckless driving.

He would spend 14 days in prison should he fail to pay the money.

He had on July 21, last year, knocked down a pedestrian, Adwoa Konadu, with his KIA Soronto Wagon vehicle, resulting in her sustaining serious injuries.

Owusu-Appiah was charged with careless and inconsiderate driving and he pleaded guilty.

Police Sergeant Jonas Adjei told the court presided over by Mr Sam Nibi that the convict was driving towards Akropong to Atwima-Koforidua, when he ran his vehicle into the victim.

This happened at about 1640 hours and Konadu was rushed to the hospital where she was kept on admission for days.
