The Awutu Bereku District Police Command has arrested a married couple for allegedly chaining their 9-year-old son in a bush for two days at Gomoa Nkwantanan in the Central Region.

The suspects, 35-year-old Bismarck Odoi and 33-year-old Saviour Arthur, reportedly admitted to the act, claiming their son needed to be disciplined for his stubborn behavior.

According to a report by adomonline.com, the child was rescued by women who had gone to the bush to gather firewood.

He was subsequently taken to the police station, where he recounted his ordeal.

The boy disclosed that his father had threatened to punish him and his younger brother for being late to school. Upon their return home, he was taken into the bush, chained, and abandoned.
