Contractor in court for causing harm

A Contractor who allegedly smashed the head of a carpenter with a log laced with nails following a misunderstanding has been put before an Accra Circuit Court.

Emmanuel Teye Addy, charged with causing harm has pleaded not guilty.

The court presided over by Mr W Essadandoh admitted Addy to a bail of GH? 4,000 with one surety to reappear on September 10. The surety is to be a public servant.

Addy’s counsel prayed the court to admit his client to bail describing the incident between his client and the complainant Emmanuel Danso as unfortunate.

According to the counsel the accused person had taken care of the medical bills of Mr Danso.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Peter Benne, the prosecutor, said both the accused person and complainant reside at a spot known as American Washing Bay on the Spintex Road and are good friends.

At about 1730 hours on April 30, a misunderstanding ensued between them and in the process; Addy picked up the log and hit the complainant twice.

Prosecution said when the accused person attempted to hit the complainant again, some of the nails got stuck in the complainant’s left ear.

Addy left Mr Danso who bled immensely after the act.

Prosecution said Mr Danso shouted for help and some people came to his rescue and rushed him to LEKMA Hospital and later transferred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

ASP Benne said a report was made to the police and a medical form was issued to the complainant and Addy was arrested later.
