Company drags employee to court over theft

John Asamoah Kyeremateng, Relations Officer of the Christian Community Micro Finance Limited (CCML), was on Thursday put before a Kumasi Circuit Court over the alleged theft of GH?15,716.00 belonging to his employers.

He pleaded not guilty to the offence and was granted a GH¢15,000.00-bail with a surety to make his next appearance on October 5.

Police Chief Inspector Felix Akowuah told the court presided over by Mrs. Afua Adu-Amankwaah that the crime was committed at the company’s KNUST branch.

This, C/Insp Akowuah said, was uncovered by an audit commissioned by the Operational Risk Supervisor on July 21.

The prosecution said the money stolen had been deposited with the micro finance company by its customers.

They at different times made direct payments to Kyeremateng, and this he did not deny.

He has already refunded GH¢900, leaving a balance of GH¢14,816.00.
