Bar operator remanded for sodomy

Accra, Feb. 21, GNA - Daniel Kwaku Acheampong, a drinking bar operat= or, was on Monday remanded into police custody for allegedly having anal sex with a 16-year-old boy. Charged with unnatural carnal knowledge, Acheampong has pleaded not guilty and is to reappear on March 4. The prosecutor, Inspector I.A.A Ahor, told the court presided over by Mrs Georgina Mesah-Datsa that the victim had deserted his parents and was living with Acheampong as his guardian at Nungua in Accra. The prosecutor said Mr Richard Amankwah, the complainant, resided in the same area with the accused.

On February 14 this year, the complainant went to the drinking spot of the accused to purchase a sachet of water but found that the placed was closed. The prosecutor said the complainant, however, heard an unusual noise and that aroused his curiosity. He therefore peeped through the window and to his surprise he saw the accused person and the victim naked with the accused on top of the victim.

The prosecutor said the complainant went to call a witness and when they arrived, they saw the accused busily sodomising the victim. The complainant and the witness left the scene and went to lodge a complaint with the Police who later issued a medical form to the victim to go to hospital after arresting the accused person. Inspector Ahor said the accused person in his caution statement admitted the offence and stated that the sexual act had been going on for a long time.
