Auto electrician nabbed in school admission deal

An auto electrician, who allegedly swindled a businessman of GHc2,100, has been arrested by the police at Kaneshie in Accra.

Fredrick Mensah, 39, was reported to have taken the money to get admission for the complainant’s (name withheld) daughter in a second cycle school but to no avail.

The Kaneshie District Police Commander, Superintendent Francis Somian told The Ghanaian Times in Accra on Friday that last December, a friend of the complainant introduced the suspect to him as someone who could assist him get admission for his daughter who had aggregate “15” in West African Senior High School Certificate Examination.

Supt. Somian said Mensah took GHc1,000 as a fee for admission processing for Mfanstiman SHS.

Supt. Somian said some days later, he told the complainant that it had become tough getting the admission and opted for another school and requested for additional GHc1,100.

“Mensah told the complaint that there was limited vacancy at the school and requested for more money,” he added.

Supt. Somian said after the second payment, he gave prospectus for 2016 to the complainant.
