Mr Akwesi Agyekum, an Assemblyman for Onyankrom in the Adansi South District of the Ashanti Region and a Cocoa purchasing clerk was on Monday dawn robbed of his GHC37,000 at his home.

A traumatized Akwesi Agyekum revealed to mynewsgh.com that the gun wielding robbers numbering about 7, stormed his residence at about 1am and broke into his room with threats of gunning him down if he failed to comply.

According to him, some of them were wielding sharp knives and were prepared to slit his throat if he dared raise an alarm or pose any form of resistance.

Fearing for his life and that of members of his family, he watched as they ransacked his home, took some valuables before breaking into what was a provisional safe and made away with the cash in a briefcase and three travelling passports.

To ensure after their operation he did not get the opportunity to report the matter to the security agencies, his car tyres were deflated and all mobile phones seized.

“They ordered me to surrender all money on me or lose my life”, he revealed.

He disclosed after the robbery incident, which lasted for some few minutes some of armed robbers rushed into their KIA salon car and sped away whiles the others jumped on an unlicensed motorbike and bolted.

The visibly traumatised assemblyman who is a cocoa purchasing clerk in the area has since reported the matter to the police.

At the time of filing this report, no arrest had been made.
