Akim Swedru Court jails two farmers for stealing

The Akim Swedru Circuit Court in the Birim South District of the Eastern Region has jailed two farmers to a total of four years imprisonment for stealing fried fish and meat meant for a funeral.

Kwesi Asiedu, 22, and Kofi Nsiah, 28, were convicted on their own plea of guilty to conspiracy and stealing.

Briefing the presiding judge, Yaw Atta Sampong, Police Inspector Kwaku Appiah said Mr Kwesi Anokye, the complainant lives at Akim Ofoase with Asiedu and Nsiah.

Inspector Appiah said Anokye’s had bought some fried fish, meat and soft drinks for his father’s funeral rites worth GHS 400.

According to the prosecutor, Asiedu in the night broke the window of the room where the items were kept, entered and passed the items to Nsiah, who was waiting behind the window.

Unfortunately for them, Anokye had information about their act and they were arrested.
