Administrative Assistant in court for fraud

Joyce Kpandor, an administrative assistant who allegedly defrauded two men of GH? 10,000 under the pretext of sending them to Qatar for greener pastures, has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.

Joyce, charged with two counts of defrauding by false pretences, however, pleaded not guilty.

The court presided over by Mr W. K. Essandoh admitted her to bail in the sum of

GH? 6,000 with one surety, who should be a public servant earning not less than GH? 1,000 a month.

She is to re-appear on Friday, November 13.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Francis Tarsan told the court that the complainants are Samuel Kwasi Ewudzi and Richard Mawuli, while the accused person resides at Ashalley Botwe in Accra.

The prosecution said between February and April this year, Joyce collected GH? 5,000 from each of the complainant, and promised to send them to Qatar for greener pastures within three months.

Chief Inspector Tarsan said, after collecting the money, Joyce failed to honour her promise and went into hiding making it difficult for the complainants to reach her to retrieve their money.

The prosecution said the complainants, therefore, reported the incident to the Police and Joyce was nabbed.

During police interrogation, Joyce admitted the offence, the prosecution added.
