A joint security operation involving the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Immigration Service has led to the arrest of 28 foreign nationals and some landlords in the Amansie West District over illegal entry and stay in the country.
The operation, carried out at Pakyi No.1 and Pakyi No.2, targeted individuals residing in the area without valid documentation, according to a March 17, 2026 report by adomonline.com.
The District Chief Executive, Prince Manu Morris said some landlords were apprehended for renting out their properties to the foreigners without notifying or seeking approval from the district assembly.
He warned property owners to strictly comply with the law by verifying the immigration status of tenants before offering accommodation.

“Landlords must ensure that prospective tenants have the right documentation. Failing to do so is a violation of Ghana’s laws,” he cautioned.
Morris stressed that authorities will intensify efforts to clamp down on undocumented immigrants, noting that many of those arrested are suspected to be involved in illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, and other criminal activities.
He added that the district assembly, working closely with immigration officials, remains committed to protecting the area from unlawful activities and preserving its safety.
The exercise forms part of ongoing operations aimed at rooting out illegal residents and curbing galamsey activities in the district.
