A 26-year-old commercial driver is currently fighting for his life after allegedly being subjected to brutal assault by police officers, leaving him with severe injuries that may result in permanent paralysis.

The driver, John Arhin, a native of Enyan Kokwado in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District, Central Region, alleged that he was en route to Ajumako on Monday, July 21, 2025, to have his mechanic fix his faulty sprinter bus.

However, according to a report by Kasapa FM's Yaw Boagyan, Arhin's inability to stop his car immediately when stopped by police due to a mechanical fault enraged the officers.

They allegedly pursued him on a motorbike, pulled him out of his vehicle with force, and subjected him to a gruesome assault that left him unable to walk.

Arhin claimed that the police later called for backup, and two additional officers arrived, inflicting more severe injuries on him while he was already helpless on the roadside.

After the brutal assault, the police left him by the roadside, and he called family members for assistance.

The report indicated that since the incident on Monday, July 21, 2025, Arhin has remained at home, unable to afford medical care at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital, where he has been referred.

His family has appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to ensure justice by arresting the culprits and bringing them to face the law. Meanwhile, the regional command has yet to issue a statement on the matter.
