24-year old farmer arrested for murder

Kumasi, July 21, GNA – A 24-year old farmer, who is alleged to have stabbed another farmer to death at Boatenkrom near Mankranso in the Ahafo-Ano South District is now in the grips of the law.

Sampson Biney fled after committing the crime on June 7.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Adu-Boahen, Tepa District Crime Officer, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the suspect was arrested at his hideout at Adankwame.

Biney was said to have picked a quarrel with the deceased, Kwame Dogo, over what he considered to be a gossip about him.

ASP Adu-Boahen said Biney lives in the same room with one James Larr and for some time, had been unhappy with the offensive smell from the unwashed clothes of his room-mate.

On June 7, the suspect felt he could no longer cope with the nuisance, packed those dirty clothing into a bag and deposited it on his farm.

Dogo who saw the suspect in the act informed the Unit Committee and this angered him, resulting in a fist-fight. The two were, however, separated.

Biney, still seething with anger run to the house, picked a knife and attacked the deceased, stabbing him in the abdomen.

He was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) but died of his wounds.

The Crime Officer said Biney went into hiding and was arrested on July 19.

He said he would soon be put before court to answer for his crime.
