22-year-old wrongfully jailed 15-years for robbing prostitute

A 22-year-old man is serving a 15 years jail term for a wrong accusation by his regular prostitute customer.

Mawuli Johnnie Asimah revealed in an interview on Kingdom FM 107.7 that he was jailed for a crime he never carried.

The who convict has now served 6 months of his jail term, said his regular prostitute got him arrested on a falsehood that he robbed her off her phone, 3 pack of condoms and a handbag, a crime Mawuli denied.

The Accra Circuit Court One on 26th of March, 2019 sentenced Mawuli to 15 years in prison custody.

According to Mawuli, the police officer at Nungua who processed him requested for GHC 3,000 and upon forfeiture, he finally got jailed.

The 22-year-old convict says life is now unbearable for him and has regretted sleeping with a prostitute and needs help.

However, the CEO of Unique Kingdom Communication Limited, Jonathan Amofa initiated a human rights court process through a lawyer.
