15-year old girl murdered at Whindo

Whindo (W/R), May 23, GNA — Tragedy struck Whindo, a suburb of Takoradi, when a 15-year old girl, Elizabeth Cudjoe, was found murdered by unknown assailants.

Confirming the incident to the Ghana News Agency, in Takoradi, on Monday, the Kwesimintsim Crime Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ben Ofori Acquah, said the police heard the news of the girl's murder last Saturday morning and dispatched police personnel to the scene of the crime.

He said the police found the deceased with deep cutlass wounds all over the body, behind an isolated bushy building at the outskirt of the town.

The Crime Officer said further police investigations led them to the house of the deceased's parents.

ASP Acquah said when the parents of the deceased were interrogated, they told them that, the deceased was left at home last Friday May 20, to take care of her two younger siblings while the mother went to the market to sell her wares. The father also went on a business trip to Benso in the Mpohor Wassa East district of the Western region.

ASP Acquah said the deceased was said to have left the house while the parents were away, to a nearby funeral on Friday night but did not return home until the unfortunate news of her death the next day.

The corpse had been deposited at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, pending autopsy, while police investigations continue, so far no arrest had been made.
