We have known since the day Tetteh Quarshie brought Cocoa to Ghana that those in the border areas as well as the Police,Immigration and the Army smuggle our cocoa to the Ivory Coast . We are in 21st century and a useless Agricultural Minister is still talking theories. What a useless country where there is no leadership anywhere. Very sad.

It makes no sense to me why after decades Ghana still exports the majority of Cocoa Beans in it's raw form instead of adding value to it's products. The problem of fluctuating commodity prices have been known since the CPP Government , which has been out of power since 1966. It appears to me that our country does not want to progress or develop? Just think how many additional schools, hospitals, health clinics, roads, bridges or other infrastructure projects could be built with the annual loss of $1 Billion? Sadly, look at the abject poverty that exists in the Villages of our Cocoa Farmers. We are not a serious Nation.

That amidst all the sabotages hatred from outside the country and within. He did not understand producing chocolate and earning feeble income or revenue from it, for foreign governments to have lionshare revenue from it. Like what is happening in gold, bauxites, mangenese and not last nor least so call on shore fishery pollutant OIL INDUSTRY. Most of the crop of academia in power are archaic or myopic learners to be in positions. The cannot negotiate for the country to gain. The fact that someone has an academic degree, do not connote leadership. I have classmates who has higher degree than me, but I think, I will be a better leader than them. Water and sewarage corporation labourers will confirm this of my qualities as a person.

The ignorance and greed of the leaders started after 1966. A country's development always reflect the vision and behavior of its leadership.

it is never too late to start anything. Ghana could and must invest in scholarships to Ghanaians students into the manufacturing of cocoa beans (Food) processing. I worked at ADM cocoa and know the process is very complicated. Yet it is possible to train Ghanaian youth. Ghana could process all, I mean all our cocoa beans and export the finished goods. Then, only then we can dictate our price. The Whiteman cannot survive without chocolate. Medical science has published that dark chocolate is essential to improve memory and human health. The world needs chocolate. Ghana could process our cocoa bean independently in 5 years. The processing machinery is available. We do not need to invent anything. All we need to do is to train personnel. When? When shall we as a Nation take charge of our Gog given raw materials? When???
Ghanaians are toiling in foreign lands, mistreatment, abused as humans and even being poisoned and hanged for looking for greener postures in foreign lands. When can we think ahead of ourselves and put our money into investing for the future, by training our youth to take charge of our mineral resources?
We export timber- we could manufacture furniture.
Gold- we could manufacture finished jewelry, the list go on and on. And we cry for employment?

No deal if Ghana don't add value to cocoa products. Use this opportunity to create more jobs for our youths and jobless throughout Ghana. Make it work. if Switzerland can then so can Ghana

Even if we we export cocoa in the pods to be dried in Europe, still it should sell not less than $10,000 a tonne if our leaders are not stupid.
The white man needs the cocoa more than we need, but pretends as if we are at their mercy. Cocoa producing countries should form a cartel and decide not to sell cocoa for just 2 years 'until we know what the hell is going on'- Donald Trump
What about the derivatives of cocoa. Cocoa is not only chocolate. There is more to it than the cheats are pretending. Check derivatives of cocoa and u will agree that COCOA producing countries are stupid
