You put factories in district where there is good man power, easy transportation (Meaning roads good enough to accommodate product movement), areas where pollution can be managed, electrical supply and many other factors. Its a stupid idea not deliverable by any govt. Not all districts can accommodate factories
It was a fake promise and anyone with any sense of rational thinking knows it. I suggest that they concentrate on work and stop this stupid commentary

People laughed at this One District One factory slogan Nana had. The NDC Govt who were then the ruling Govt were the first to criticize the idea. Today as it stands more people are buying that idea. Lets do the maths on this idea a factory yield more employment for a community and the more people are in skill and meaningful the more happier they become in having economic independence and responsibilities. This translate to less armed robbers on our streets and less street hawkers. The idea is long term in seeing the benefits.

What is not clear from this policy is the ways local investors can obtain a stake in these District Enterprises.
For example, if you have not got funds to establish a factory or go into a 50% partnership with Govt. How can you buy a stake into a District Enterprise via bonds or shares? These factories will be exploiting natural resources of the country & therefore, it is important that the citizens of this country have opportunities to become stakeholders. This policy will not succeed if the large majority of factory owners are foreigners as they will take advantage of tax breaks & transfer profits abroad. Also, any jobs that are created for local people will be paid around the minimum wage?
Therefore, Ghana will not benefit unless the Govt rethinks the implementation of this policy iniative.
