What feasibility studies have they done? What will be the capacities of those factories? How many workers can each employ, and how sustainable will their employment security be? What about the availability of markets for the products in this competitive environment where customers are looking for relatively cheap goods because of our weak purchasing power? What about the sustainability of raw materials for the factories all year round. Hmmm, we do not want a situation where we open factories at all cost only for them to collapse after one or two years in operation. The collapse of Kuffuor's Ayensu Starch Factory should be an eye opener for us. Opening factories just for political expediency will be a calamity and failure in waiting. Nana Akuffo Addo should be aware that the Law on Causing Financial Loss to the State is still on our status.

You failed to mention the classic example of failed factories in our recent history. The Komenda Sugar factory should not have escaped your thoughts. It is for this reason you worry so much about the many factories President Akufo Addo and the NPP plan for the country. Instead of being truthful, you decided to cite Ayensu Cassava factory. This factory is still running, if it is not efficiently being run by your view. Most factories which produce raw farm produce, do so in seasons. That is in cycles, within a given year. The period between harvesting and production is used for maintenance. The next worry is the markets and the needed marketing activities to go to support the produce. If our country will learn lessons of failed factories, Komenda Sugar factory should be our focus and not Ayensu Cassava factory.
